Cryogenic Insulation
Cryogenic processes operate at very low temperatures,
often below -150°C (-238°F). Insulating SHRIDHAN MLIs in
such environments is essential to maintain the temperature
stability of the cryogenic liquids. These level indicators are
used in industries such as LNG, LPG, and other cryogenic
applications. The insulation ensures accurate level
measurement and system efficiency by maintaining
stable temperatures and preventing heat ingress.
Features
-
Thermal Stability – to maintain the temperature stability of the cryogenic liquids. Stable temperatures
are necessary for precise level measurement and safe operation. -
Minimizing Heat Ingress – reduces heat transfer from the external environment into the cryogenic system.
-
Protecting Instrument Integrity – protects SHRIDHAN MLIs from extreme temperature fluctuations, which
can affect their accuracy and lifespan. -
Energy Conservation – by minimizing heat ingress, cryogenic insulation helps conserve energy.
-
The default construction includes an anti-frost extension for the indicator. This feature helps to prevent the
formation of frost on the indicator.

Cryogenic foams, such as polyurethane or polystyrene, offer good thermal insulation properties.
They are applied in layers around the indicator to provide insulation. The outer layer of the insulation is typically
covered with an aluminium jacket.
